Your preferences

Purpose​

Explain everything /me/preferences holds, now that it is the one place every standing choice a respondent makes lives — not only whether to be emailed about new assessments.

Who this is for​

Anyone signed in who has answered, or been asked to answer, an assessment.

What is on the page​

/me/preferences lists three things, once per programme you hold a roster row in — not once for the whole account, because these are all things you may reasonably want to answer differently for two different organisations you work with.

Email announcements​

A tick box per programme: "Email me when <programme> adds a new assessment." This is the same control /me/assessments carries inside its More disclosure — there is no third place it lives, and ticking it in one place is what the other shows.

  • It is about email, not about consent. Ticking it does not enrol you in anything, and unticking it does not withdraw you from anything you have already answered.
  • Unsubscribing from one of those emails cancels it everywhere. The link at the foot of the email both stops that message and turns this tick box off, so you never have to come back here just to make it stop.

Reading language​

A select per programme, offering "No preference" plus every language the product supports. This writes the same Language field a coordinator's roster screen shows — see What language you see, and how to change it for the full explanation of what it does and does not change. In short: it decides the language your next email from that programme is written in, and it already shows whatever language you were last answering in, because the taker writes it back here automatically.

"No preference" clears it rather than choosing English — the programme's own bilingual rule (English plus its primary published language) applies instead.

A read-only summary — one line per programme, naming what is on record: you agreed to take part, you declined, you withdrew, or nothing is recorded yet, with the date when there is one. This is a SUMMARY, not a control: the questionnaire is where you first state consent, and the withdrawal action — mounted directly beneath each summary line — is the only way to change it from this page.

When a programme allows consent per assessment, a refusal that belongs only to one assessment is stored with that assessment and does not replace this programme-level summary. Its other assessments can therefore remain open.

Withdrawing:

  • Stops use. It does not delete. Your answers are still held; erasure is a separate request the organisers act on by hand.
  • Is not reversible from here. There is no un-withdraw button — only an administrator's own audited action moves a row back out of "withdrawn".
  • Withdrawal applies to the whole programme. It is different from declining one assessment when the programme explicitly allows per-assessment consent.

If a section is missing​

  • No email box, no language select, no consent line for a programme means you have no roster relationship with it yet — there is nothing to state a preference against. Once you have been asked for an assessment there, the page grows a row for it.
  • The page itself says "You are not on any programme's list yet" when none of the three sections has anything to show at all.
